My name is Anaelie Mainville, and I am an upcoming third year undergraduate student at the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education. This summer, I am researching the effects of an epinephrine aptamer on the Beta-2-adrenergic receptors of Human Embryonic Kidney 293 cells by analyzing the levels of cyclic AMP produced by the cells post treatment. The Beta-2-adrenergic receptors are a subclass of G protein coupled receptors or GPCRs that play a crucial role in many physiological pathways especially in bronchodilation such as Asthma and COPD.
