Ealonah Volvovitz is a rising junior majoring in biotech. This summer she’s been working on synthesizing adenine and uracil molecules with different R groups. The goal is to use these nucleotides in the production of aptamers, which are short molecules made of single stranded rna or dna that can bind to protein targets to aid in drug delivery or be used as biosensors for diagnostic purposes.
