My name is Justin Lin, and I am a senior at The City College of New York majoring in civil engineering. I am interested in structural engineering, and specifically, in bridge engineering. My Research topic is on assessing highway bridge scour reliability and risk under climate change. The increase in precipitation under climate change leads to larger and more frequent floods, which increases the risk of bridge scour. The purpose of my research is to analyze past data and climate model predictions to create a reliability curve and determine the necessary load factor to meet a specified target safety.
